Sarah Völkel, youngest daughter of company founders Klaus Peter and Doris Völkel, has been a member of the management team since 1st November 2008.

After completing her business degree studies at the renowned International School of Management( ISM) in Dortmund, accompanied by several semesters abroad and courses of practical training in Hungary, Spain and England , she went on to obtain her Master of International Business finals in Australia in late 2007.

Initial entrepreneurial challenge came in early 2008 when she assumed the responsibilities of a Product Marketing Specialist in the Desktop PC Division of Maxdata, Marl, the computer specialists.

Even while she was still undergoing university education, plans were firmly in place to integrate Sarah Völkel fully into the family-run enterprise and to assign her to an executive position within the company.
On 1st July 2009, she was called upon to manage the Marketing und Controlling Divisions, where apart from business expertise, her excellent knowledge of English and Spanish has also come to bear fruit.

Professional know-how, language skills and a youthful esprit are qualities that Sarah Völkel has contributed to imparting fresh impetus and an innovative approach to the Völkel corporate structure.

After Peter and Daniel Völkel, Sarah Völkel has now joined forces with the next generation, securing the ongoing line of succession in the family business.

Weltweite Kompetenz in Gewindewerkzeugen
Worldwide Professionalism in the Field of Threading Tools

The family founded its business on 1st August 1980, trading under the corporate style of Völkel KG. Initially, production was confined to holding tools. Following removal from the original site at Rather Berg to more spacious premises in Kronprinzenstrasse, the range of products underwent expansion to include low-cost threading tools retailing under the brand name "PEVO".

On 1st January 1989, Doris und Daniel Völkel transformed Völkel KG from its limited partnership status to that of a limited liability company operating as Völkel GmbH. The manufacture of holding tools continued, while conversion took place to quality products in close alignment with industrial requirements. Right from the outset, managing directors Peter and Daniel Völkel focused their attention on the international market, both from the distribution and production angle.

Since 1984, close relations have been maintained to tradition-steeped manufacturers of threading tools, Tom Carrington & Co. LTD., a minority shareholder of Völkel GmbH since 1991.

Early in the history of the company it became obvious that outsourcing abroad well enough in advance was the only way to absorb constantly spiralling costs. Hence, the number of production facilities increased over the years. Today, production proceeds on a global scale at partner enterprises equipped with company-owned machinery. Going by entrepreneurial sources, industrialization quickly paid for itself, the same applying to sales. Meanwhile, the company's products are exported to over 60 different countries, this leading to a current export quota of 76 per cent based on an annual turnover of twelve million Euros. According to a company spokesman, these figures resulted in VÖLKEL qualifying for third place on the impulse-ranking scale of "Germany's Most International Medium-sized Company" as far back as 2001. The key to the VÖLKEL burgeoning pattern of success, that seems to run counter to the general trend, is stated to be specialization in a specific tool segment enhanced by regular product innovations. In 1990, a new family of products was introduced in the form of threading tools designed with hexagon shanks. In 1993, the company developed its own high-grade plastic tool cassettes. The introduction of the colour-ring thread forming tap in 1997 is stated to have marked the entry into a new generation of heavy-duty industrial tools. In 2000, thread formers were admitted to the product palette along with the V-COIL System for thread repairs.

An unusually wide range of threading tools is a major distinguishing feature of Völkel GmbH enhanced by direct product availability from stock. On 1st August 2005, exactly 25 years to the day after the founding of the company, work was launched on the third stage of expansion of the company premises located at 18 Morsbachtalstrasse, increasing the existing 2500 square metres of production space by an additional administration unit occupying 250 square metres.
